This is one of the best opera houses in the country and was opened in 1992. It has yearly regular seasons.

´Lope de Vega´ Theatre (Teatro Lope de Vega)
The ´Lope de Vega´ is the most important Sevilla theatre with well known national companies performing in it.

´Alamenda´ Theatre (Teatro Municipal Alameda)
Independent theatre is performed at the ´Alameda´. This venue holds a theatre series for children as well as the Puppets and Marionettes Festival each May.

Sevilla Music


The most important music events in Sevilla include:

  • Ancient Music Festival (or ´Festival de Música Antigua de Sevilla´ ): it is held in March in some of the churches and the ´Alcázar´at the historic city centre as well as the ´Lope de Vega´ theatre.
  • International Festival of Movie Soundtracks: it is held in May at ´La Maestranza´ theatre, with movie projections accompanied by soundtracks concerts.
  • Spring Festival: it is held in June at the assembly hall of the ´Real Maestranza de Caballería´ with chamber music concerts and recitals. This event is organized by the ´Juventudes Musicales´ (Young musicians) of Seville.
  • ´Itálica´ Dance Festival: it is held in July and August at ´La Maestranza´ theatre, with important international figures taking part in it.
  • Open-air Opera Festival: it is held in September at ´La Cartuja´ Auditorium.
  • Flamenco Biennial: it is held in October and is considered to be the most important event worldwide representing this art. It gathers the most important flamenco performers.
  • Jazz Festival: it is held in February and March at ´La Maestranza´ theatre.
  • The rest of the year ´La Maestranza´ theatre holds concerts of the Sevilla Symphonic Orchestra nearly every Thursday and Friday, as well as a good number of foreign orchestras´ performances.
  • Pop & Rock Music is performed in the theme park at ´La Cartuja´ Auditorium.
  • Opera Season: it is held throughout the year at ´La Maestranza´ theatre.
